Let \(\mathcal{KC}_g^k\) be the moduli stack of pairs \((S,C)\), where \(S\) is a \(K3\) surface and \(C\) is a curve on \(S\) of genus \(g\) and divisibility \(k\) in \(\mathop{\mathrm{Pic}}(S)\). Let \(c_g^k:(S,C)\to C\) be the forgetful map from \(\mathcal{KC}_g^k\) to \(\mathcal{M}_g\). The first result of this paper is a geometric description of the general fiber of this map. It turns out that this is only interesting if \(S\) is a complete intersection or a section of a Mukai variety. The second main result of the paper concerns the image of \(c_g^k\), in particular, when it dominates the locus of \(k\)-spin curves with the appropriate number of independent sections. The authors manage to establish this in the case where \(S\) is a complete intersection, and obtain some classification results for \(k\)-spin curves.
