The present paper is an exposition of the minimal point theorem related to the Ekeland variational principle. It revisits results presented in [\textit{A. Göpfert} et al., Nonlinear Anal., Theory Methods Appl., Ser. A, Theory Methods 39, No. 7, 909--922 (2000; Zbl 0997.49019); \textit{A. B. Németh}, Nonlinear Anal., Theory Methods Appl. 10, 669--678 (1986; Zbl 0613.49007); \textit{A. H. Hamel}, Nonlinear Anal., Theory Methods Appl., Ser. A, Theory Methods 62, No. 5, 913--924 (2005; Zbl 1093.49016); \textit{A. Benbrik} et al., Lobachevskii J. Math. 21, 33--44 (2006; Zbl 1121.58018). The goal is to provide remarks on statements of minimal points concerning vector variants of the Ekeland variational principle and related assertions in uniform spaces. First, preliminaries of affine geometry (cones) and the Ekeland principle are presented. Then, four different variants of the minimal point theorem along with corresponding vector variants of the Ekeland variational principle are presented. The intention is to highlight links with other forms of minimal point assertions and the Ekeland variational principle. The subsequent section exposes the reader to the Ekeland principle in uniform spaces. The work concludes with a very brief exposition of applications.
