In general, to give a \textit{branch data} \(P\) on an irreducible, smooth projective curve \(Y\) means attaching a finite Galois field extension \(P(y)/K_{Y,y}\) to each closed point \(y\) in \(Y\), with the property that only for a finite set of points the Galois extension is not trivial. Here \(K_{Y,y}\) is the fraction field of \(\hat {\mathcal O}_{Y,y}\). The branch data is called \textit{tame} if all these local fields extensions are tame. If \(X\) and \(Y\) are irreducible, smooth projective curves, a surjective and separable map \(f:X \rightarrow Y\) is called genuinely ramified if it has the property that the induced homomorphism of étale fundamental groups \(f_*: \pi ^{et}_1(X) \rightarrow \pi ^{et}_1(Y)\) is surjective . In this situation \(f\) produces a \textit{branch data} on \(Y\), denoted \(B_f\), nameley, for \(y\in Y\) let \(B_f(y)\) be the compositum of the Galois closures of all extensions \(K_{X,x}/K_{Y,y}\) with \(x\) point in \(X\) such that \(f(x)=y\). When the induced field extension \(k(X)/k(Y)\) is a Galois extension one says that \(f\) is a \textit{Galois cover}. In [\textit{V. B. Mehta} and \textit{C. S. Seshadri}, Math. Ann. 248, 205--239 (1980; Zbl 0454.14006)] there was introduced the notion of \textit{parabolic structure} (over a given branch data) on a vector bundle. The main result of the paper asserts that, for a genuinely ramified map as above \(f:X \rightarrow Y\), and \(P\) a branch data on \(Y\) with the property that \(P(y)\) and \(B_f(y)\) are linearly disjoint for every \(y \in Y\), if \(P\) is tame or \(f\) is Galois then \(f^*(V)\) is a stable parabolic bundle with respect to \(f^*(P)\) for any \(V\) stable parabolic bundle with respect to \(P\). This result is a more general analogue of a result in [\textit{I. Biswas} and \textit{A. J. Parameswaran}, Int. Math. Res. Not. 2022, No. 17, 12821--12851 (2022; Zbl 07582344)].
