The aim of this paper is to determine the smallest constant \(K>0\) in the inequality \[ \int_{0}^{\infty}\big|Hf(t)-f(t)\big|^pt^a\text{d}t \le K^p\int_{0}^{\infty}|f(t)|^pt^a\text{d}t, \] where \(p\in[1,\infty)\), \(a<p-1\) and \(H\) is the Hardy operator \[ Hf(t)=\frac{1}{t}\int_{0}^{t}f(s)\text{d}s, \quad t>0, \] for various classes of functions \(f\). Namely, the author considers the class of all measurable functions \(f\), the class of all positive measurable functions \(f\) and the class of all positive decreasing functions \(f\), and finds corresponding optimal constants \(C_{p,a}\), \(B_{p,a}\) and \(A_{p,a}\), respectively. Moreover, as a byproduct, some results about the optimal relations between the norms of \(H\) and its dual are obtained. For previous related results see [\textit{S. Boza} and \textit{J. Soria}, J.
