Waldspurger in the 80ies proved a relation between special values of \(\mathrm{L}\)-functions associated with elliptic modular forms and Fourier coefficients of modular forms in half-integral weight. The Böcherer Conjecture, also posed in the 80s, is a generalization of this connection to Siegel modular forms of genus~\(2\). Given a Siegel modular form~\(f\) of even weight for the full modular group, it states that there is a constant~\(c_f\) such that for any negative fundamental discriminant~\(D\) \begin{gather*} \Big| \sum_{\substack{t \in \mathrm{Mat}^{\mathrm{t}}_2(\frac{1}{2} \mathbb{Z}) / \mathrm{SL}_2(\mathbb{Z})\\ -\det(t) = D}} \frac{c(f;\,t)}{\#\mathrm{Aut}(t)} \Big|^2 = c_f w(D)^2 D^{k-1}\, \mathrm{L}^{\mathrm{sp}}(f \otimes \chi_D, k-1) \text{.} \end{gather*} In this formula, the~\(c(f;t)\) are the Fourier coefficients of~\(f\) indexed by semi-integral, symmetric, semi-positive definite \(2 \times 2\)~matrices~\(t\), \(\mathrm{Aut}(t)\) is the set of automorphisms of~\(t\) (viewed as a binary quadratic form), \(w(D)\) is the number of units in~\(\mathbb{Q}(\sqrt{D})\) and the~\(\mathrm{L}\)-function is the twisted spinor~\(\mathrm{L}\) at its central value. Böcherer's conjecture was proved by \textit{M. Furusawa} and \textit{K. Morimoto} in [Math. Ann. 368, No. 1--2, 561--586 (2017; Zbl 1398.11078)]. The present paper reformulates the Böcherer Conjecture as a special case of the refined Gan-Gross-Prasad Conjecture. One of the key difficulties is to evaluate exactly the local factors that appear. The authors determine the constant~\(c_f\) and extend the Böcherer Conjecture to twisted sums of Fourier coefficients.
