The work of \textit{J. M. Oudom} and \textit{D. Guin} [J. \(K\)-Theory 2, No. 1, 147--167 (2008; Zbl 1178.17011)] proved that the category of pre-Lie algebras is isomorphic to the category of brace symmetric algebras, both ruled by an operad on rooted trees described by \textit{F. Chapoton} and \textit{M. Livernet} [Int. Math. Res. Not. 2001, No. 8, 395--408 (2001; Zbl 1053.17001)]. Similar results are proved here for post-Lie algebras. The notion of post-symmetric brace algebras is introduced. These are Lie algebras \(g\) with a linear map \(\mathcal{U}(g)\otimes g\longrightarrow g\) satisfying some axioms. A combinatorial description of their operad is given with planar rooted trees and it is proved that this operad is isomorphic to the operad of post-Lie algebras. Secondly, a notion of D-bialgebras is introduced and a full and faithful functor of enveloping algebras is defined from the category of post-Lie algebras to the category of D-bialgebras, adjoint to the primitive elements functors. Finally, using this formalism, the post-Lie Magnus is related to the Baker-Campbell-Hausdorff series of the two underlying Lie algebras of a post-Lie algebra.
