Gelfand-Kirillov dimension for rings (Q2180109)

The authors study an extension of the important notion of the Gelfand-Kirillov dimension, which has been proven to be an important instrument in many areas of algebra. Namely, they extend this notion for algebras and modules over commutative domains. By lifting scalars to the ring of fractions, the authors show that this notion can be reduced to the classical one in case of fields. The authors prove standard facts on the properties of the Gelfand-Kirillov dimension and the transcendent degree in this case.
