Let \(\Omega\) denote a bounded domain in \({\mathbb C}^n\). The Bergman space associated to \(\Omega\) consists of all complex analytic functions which are square summable with respect to volume Lebesgue measure. Given a finite set of analytic, bounded multipliers \(\Phi\) on this Bergman space, a natural and difficult question is to find all joint reducing subspaces of \(\Phi\). Technically, this amounts to study the von Neumann algebra of linear bounded operators commuting with \(\Phi\) and \(\Phi^\ast\). While progress on the structure of this very algebra was recently achieved in one dimension, on both Bergman and Hardy space, the article under review is one of the first major advances, in the case of several variables, and finite families of multipliers. Operator theory methods are masterly interlaced with complex geometry and function theory of several variables observations.
