This paper concerns the relationship between the notion of porosity and almost everywhere differentibility of Lipschitz maps on stratified groups. Let \(f : A \subset G \to M\) be a Lipschitz map, where \(A\) is a measurable subset of a stratified group \(G\), and \(M\) is a Banach homogeneous group. The authors introduce a new notion of directional derivatives which does not require \(f\) to be defined on a whole neighborhood of a given point. This directional derivative is based on a type of the approximation of directions inside the domain. Moreover, a special class of points of \(A\) is introduced, called density points, so that at these points the directional derivatives are defined in every direction. The authors give the characterization of point-wise differentiability of \(f\) in terms of directional derivatives at density points. It it shown that the directional derivatives of \(f\) at density points of the domain outside a \(\sigma\)-porous set are homogeneous homomorphisms of Lie groups. As a consequence of these results, it is proved that at density points of the domain outside of a \(\sigma\)-porous set the existence of directional derivatives in a spanning set of horizontal directions implies differentiability. Moreover, if the horizontal space of \(M\) has the Radon-Nikodym property, then directional derivatives in this set of directions exist almost everywhere.
