The paper under review proves Peyre's more specific version of Manin's conjecture on the asymptotic behaviour of the number of rational points of bounded height on algebraic varieties, in the special case of a smooth divisor \(X\) of bidegree \((1,2)\) in \(\mathbb{P}^n\times\mathbb{P}^n\) for \(n\geq 25\). To be precise, the author proves the following asymptotic equality for the counting function: \[N_U(B)\sim cB\log B\] where \(c\) is the constant predicted by Peyre, and \(U\) is a particular nonempty Zariski open subset of \(X\). The counting function \(N\) is defined by \[N_U(B)=\#\{P\in X(\mathbb{Q})\mid H(P)\leq B\}\] where \(H(P)\) denotes a particular Weil height associated to \(\mathcal{O}(n-1,n-2)\). The proof relies on the circle method, and more particularly its modern incarnation due to Heath-Brown (building on work of Duke, Friedlander, and Iwaniec), as well as various techniques of the author, Browning, and Heath-Brown. Getting good estimates for the number of rational points on conic curves plays a key role.
