This paper studies the behavior of an exponential dichotomy for nonautonomous linear delay differential equations under sufficiently small linear and nonlinear perturbations. In particular, a partial version of a Hartman-Grobman-type theorem is established for Lipschitz-perturbations of an exponential dichotomy, where the term ``partial'' refers to the fact that, in view of the possible lack of invertibility of the dynamics, one can only linearize the unstable direction. The robustness of an exponential dichotomy under sufficiently small linear perturbation was proved in a recent paper of the same authors [J. Dyn. Differ. Equations 32, No. 1, 1--22 (2020; Zbl 1434.34062)]. In the current paper they offer a simpler and shorter alternative proof based on the characterization of an exponential dichotomy in terms of an admissibility property. Finally, a parametrized version of the robustness property for both Lipschitz and smooth perturbations is also obtained. An essential component of the arguments is the variation of constants formula for delay equations, as well as a projected version onto the stable and unstable directions of an exponential dichotomy.
