Baker's effective method, on estimates on linear forms in logarithms of algebraic numbers, allows one to prove in several situations the effective finiteness of integral points on varieties. In this article, the author generalizes results of \textit{A. Levin} [Algebra Number Theory 8, No. 3, 647--687 (2014; Zbl 1371.11107)] regarding Baker's effective method for varieties. Combining it with Runge's method it leads to improvements of some known estimates in the case of curves by reducing the need for linear forms in \(p\)-adic logarithms. The ideas are based on the conceptual approach of \textit{Y. Bilu} [Isr. J. Math. 90, No. 1--3, 235--252 (1995; Zbl 0840.11028)]. It is also heavily inspired by the previous article \textit{S. Le Fourn} [Algebra Number Theory 13, No. 1, 159--209 (2019; Zbl 1448.11119)] dealing with Runge's method. The main results are applied to improve known estimates on solutions of \(S\)-unit equations. Applications are given to the Siegel modular variety \(A_2(2)\).
