On the Łojasiewicz-Simon gradient inequality on submanifolds (Q2192364)

In real algebraic geometry, the S. Łojasiewicz inequality describes the particular behavior of an analytic function near a critical point; L. Simon extended this inequality to certain energy functions on infinite-dimensional function spaces, and the result is nowadays called the Łojasiewicz-Simon gradient inequality. The author of the current paper provides sufficient conditions for the latter inequality to hold on a submanifold of a Banach space and discusses the optimality of his assumptions. Applications are given to the study of asymptotic properties of quasilinear parabolic equations with (nonlinear) constraints.
