This paper presents numerical schemes based on Shishkin mesh for numerical solution of singularly perturbed delay differential equations with or without a turning point. In previous papers the authors already initiated a numerical study of singularly perturbed delay differential turning point problems. The main contribution of the present paper is to study the propagation of singularity in the form of interior layers due to large dependent delay. Since the delayed argument is large, Taylor series cannot be used for approximating the delay terms. In particular, the proposed numerical scheme consists of standard finite difference operators on a piecewise uniform Shishkin mesh and interpolation to tackle the delay term. A robust error analysis is presented and uniform convergence is proved. Some significant numerical examples enlighten the features of the proposed approach.
