In this paper, the authors introduced a bilinear version of the variable \(\mathcal{A}_{p(\cdot)}\) weights condition, and proved that this condition is necessary and sufficient for the bilinear maximal operator to satisfy a weighted norm inequality in the scale of the weighted variable Lebesgue space. The results obtained in this paper generalized the linear results established by \textit{D. Cruz-Uribe} et al. [J. Math. Anal. Appl. 394, No. 2, 744--760 (2012; Zbl 1298.42021)] in the case of the variable Lebesgue space and the bilinear results obtained by \textit{A. K. Lerner} et al. [Adv. Math. 220, No. 4, 1222--1264 (2009; Zbl 1160.42009)] in the case of the classical Lebesgue space. As an application, the authors further obtained weighted norm inequalities for bilinear singular integral operators in the scale of the weighted variable Lebesgue space.
