    A Loewner chain is a family \((f_t)_{t\geq 0}\) of holomorphic injections \(f_t\colon {\mathbb B}^n \to {\mathbb C}^n\) defined on the open unit ball \({\mathbb B}^n\) in \({\mathbb C}^n\), such that \(f_t(0)=0\), \(f_t'(0)=e^t\cdot \operatorname{id}\), and \(f_t({\mathbb B}^n) \subseteq f_s({\mathbb B}^n)\) for \(s\leq t\). Let \({\mathcal S}\) denote the set of all univalent maps \(f\colon {\mathbb B}^n \to {\mathbb C}^n\) with \(f(0)=0\) and \(f'(0)=\operatorname{id}\), let \({\mathcal S}^1\) denote the subset of all maps \(f\) which embed into a Loewner chain, i.e., \(f=f_0\) for some Loewner chain \((f_t)_{t\geq 0}\), and let \({\mathcal S}^0\) denote the set of all \(f\in {\mathcal S}^1\) such that for every Loewner chain \((f_t)_{t\geq 0}\) into which \(f\) embeds the family \((e^{-t}f_t)_{t\geq 0}\) is normal. For \(n=1\) it is known that \({\mathcal S}^0={\mathcal S}^1={\mathcal S}\) and for higher dimensions \({\mathcal S}^0\subsetneq {\mathcal S}^1\subseteq {\mathcal S}\). The authors prove that the second inclusion is strict, i.e., \({\mathcal S}^1 \neq {\mathcal S}\), for \(n=3\). This follows from their main result: For any \(\epsilon >0\) there exists a continuous injective map \(\phi\colon \overline{{\mathbb B}^n}\to {\mathbb C}^n\) holomorphic on \({\mathbb B}^n\), such that (i) \(\|\phi-\operatorname{id}\|<\epsilon\) and (ii) if \(\phi({\mathbb B}^n)\subseteq \Omega\) is a Runge pair then \(\phi({\mathbb B}^n)=\Omega\).
