\textit{Y. Kawamata} [Asian J. Math. 4, No. 1, 173--181 (2000; Zbl 1060.14505)] conjectured the following. Let \(X\) be a projective normal variety with at most log terminal singularities, and let \(L\) be a nef Cartier divisor. If \(L-K_{X}\) is nef and big, then \(h^{0}(X,L)>0\). The authors are interested in this conjecture when \(X\) is smooth with trivial first Chern class (hence, \(L\) is nef and big). Thanks to the Beauville-Bogomolov decomposition, we can suppose that \(X\) is either Calabi-Yau or hyperkähler. By the Hirzebruch-Riemann-Roch formula, there is a relation between \(h^{0}(X,L)\) and the effectivity of Todd classes. When \(X\) is hyperkähler, the authors find lower bounds for \(h^{0}(X,L)\) by proving that Todd classes are quasi-effective for all known hyperkähler varieties different from \(\mathrm{OG10}\). They prove also that the fourth Todd class is quasi effective for every hyperkähler, so that the conjecture is true for all hyperkähler of dimension at most \(6\). Finally, they prove the conjecture when \(X\) is Calabi-Yau and a complete intersection in a \textit{perfect} Fano variety. That is, a Fano variety such that every nef line bundle has a nontrivial section.
