The numerical range of a linear operator on a normed linear space is a subset of the scalar field that reflects not only the algebraic structure of the space but also the norm structure. The theory of joint numerical ranges studies the joint behavior of several operators,The purpose of this survey article/minicourse is to collect some recent contributions about these topics, mostly due to the authors. In particular, problems concerning orbits of operators, diagonals of operators and their tuples, and pinching problems are discussed.
