In this paper, the authors show a generalization of Wilf's conjecture from numerical semigroups to generalized numerical semigroups and they prove it for some families of monoids. This paper has a whole section devoted to the study of the multiplicity in generalized semigroups \(GS\) where some bounds are given. With the tools developed in this section, the authors prove the conjecture for irreducible, pseudo-symmetric or symmetric \(GS\). The conjecture is also proved for \(GS\) which verifies that they only have one element less than the Frobenius number. In order to prove this case, monomial ideals are used. Finally, there is a comparison between the conjecture showed in this article with another generalization of the conjecture.
