The author proves that limiting curves (i.e., a relatively new approach to the study of fluctuations of ergodic sums), can arise for transformations of finite rank, as well as for the dyadic odometer (i.e., the simplest transformation of rank one with discrete spectrum). This seems to be the first example of limiting curves in the class of uniquely ergodic transformations.
