The authors study the differential equations for the first-order derivatives of the Heun functions. These equations are second order linear differential equations that have one more singularity than the Heun equation. The authors compare these equations with the second-order linear differential equations whose isomonodromic deformation leads to the Painlevé equations \(P_{II}- P_{VI}\).
