Let \(p\) be a prime number,\(\mathbb{Q}_p\) be the field of \(p\)-adic numbers, and \(\overline{\mathbb{F}_p}\) be an algebraic closure of the finite field \(\mathbb{F}_p\) of cardinality \(p\). The study of the admissibility of smooth irreducible representations of connected reductive \(p\)-adic groups goes back to \textit{Harish-Chandra} [Harmonic analysis on reductive \(p\)-adic groups. Notes by G van Dijk. Berlin-Heidelberg-New York: Springer-Verlag (1970; Zbl 0202.41101)]. Building upon his work, Jacquet proved that every such representation over the field of complex numbers is admissible ([\textit{H. Jacquet}, C. R. Acad. Sci., Paris, Sér. A 280, 1271--1272 (1975; Zbl 0309.22012); \textit{J. Bernstein}, ``All reductive \(p\)-adic groups are of type I'', Funkts. Anal. Prilozh. 8, No. 2, 3--6 (1974)]). This result was extended by Vignéras to smooth irreducible representations over any algebraically closed field of characteristic not equal to \(p\) [\textit{M.-F. Vignéras}, Représentations \(l\)-modulaires d'un groupe réductif \(p\)-adique avec \(l\neq p\). Boston, MA: Birkhäuser (1996; Zbl 0859.22001)]. the authors ask whether this is true for smooth irreducible representations over algebraically closed fields of characteristic \(p\). It is known that every smooth irreducible representation of \(\text{GL}_{2}(\mathbb{Q}_{p})\) over \(\mathbb{F}_p\) is admissible [\textit{L. Berger}, Rend. Semin. Mat. Univ. Padova 128, 1--6 (2012; Zbl 1266.22018)]. However, Daniel Le recently constructed non-admissible smooth irreducible \(\mathbb{F}_p\)-linear representations of \(\text{GL}_{2}(F)\), for \(F\) a finite unramified extension of \(\mathbb{Q}_p\) of degree at least 3 and for \(p > 2\), providing a negative answer to the question raised above ([\textit{D. Le}, ``On some non-admissible smooth representations of \(\text{GL}_2\)'', Math. Res. Lett. 26, No. 6, 1747--1758 (2019)]). In this article, the authors use a Diamond diagram attached to a 2-dimensional reducible split mod \(p\) Galois representation of Gal\((\overline{\mathbb{Q}_p} /\mathbb{Q}_{p^{2}} )\) to construct a non-admissible smooth irreducible mod \(p\) representation of \(\text{GL}_{2}(\mathbb{Q}_{p^{2}})\) following the approach of Daniel Le.
