Let \(B[0,1]\) be the space of measurable, bounded, and real valued functions on \([0,1]\), endowed with the supremum norm. This paper is devoted to study the uniform approximation of functions in \(B[0,1]\) by certain positive linear operators of Kantorovich type, providing sharp estimates for the approximation error in terms of the second modulus of continuity, (cf. Theorem 2). In order to do that, the author considers some ideas on uniform approximation of functions in \(B[0,1]\) by Bernstein operator due to \textit{R. Păltănea} [Approximation theory using positive linear operators. Boston, MA: Birkhäuser (2004; Zbl 1154.41013)]. However, the arguments given by the author are technically more difficult.
