    Let \(S^{n-1}\) be the unit sphere in \(\mathbb R^n\) with \(n\ge 2\), and \(\Omega\) be a homogeneous function of degree zero on \(\mathbb R^n\) which is locally integrable and satisfies the cancellation condition \[\int_{S^{n-1}} \Omega(x^\prime)d\sigma(x^\prime)=0,\] where \(d\sigma\) is the Lebesgue measure and \(x^\prime=x/|x|\) for any \(x\not=0\). For a function \(f\) on \(\mathbb R^n\), the parametrized Littlewood-Paley area integral \(\mu^\rho_{\Omega,\,S}\) and the \(g^\ast_\lambda\)-function \(\mu^{\rho,\,\ast}_{\Omega,\,\lambda}\) are respectively defined by setting, for any \(x\in\mathbb R^n\), \[\mu^\rho_{\Omega,\,S}(f)(x)=\left(\iint_{\Gamma(x)}\left|\frac1{t^\rho}\int_{|y-z|<t} \frac{\Omega(y-z)}{|y-z|^{n-\rho}}f(z)\right|^2\frac{dydt}{t^{n+1}}\right)^{1/2},\] and \[\mu^{\rho,\,\ast}_{\Omega,\,\lambda}(f)(x)=\left(\iint_{\mathbb R^{n+1}_+} \left(\frac{t}{t+|x-y|}\right)^{\lambda n}\left|\frac1{t^\rho}\int_{|y-z|<t} \frac{\Omega(y-z)}{|y-z|^{n-\rho}}f(z)\right|^2\frac{dydt}{t^{n+1}}\right)^{1/2},\] where \(\rho\in(0, \infty)\), \(\lambda\in(1, \infty)\), \(\mathbb R^{n+1}_+=\mathbb R^n\times (0, \infty)\) and \[\Gamma(x)=\{(y, t)\in \mathbb R^{n+1}_+: |x-y|<t\}.\] Moreover, for any given \(\rho\in(0, \infty)\), \(\lambda\in(1, \infty)\), integer \(m\ge 1\) and locally integrable function on \(\mathbb R^n\), the commutators \([b^m, \mu^\rho_{\Omega,\,S}]\) and \([b^m, \mu^{\rho,\,\ast}_{\Omega,\,\lambda}]\) are respectively defined by setting, for any \(x\in\mathbb R^n\), \[[b^m, \mu^\rho_{\Omega,\,S}](f)(x)=\left(\iint_{\Gamma(x)}\left|\frac1{t^\rho}\int_{|y-z|<t} \frac{\Omega(y-z)}{|y-z|^{n-\rho}}[b(x)-b(z)]^mf(z)\right|^2\frac{dydt}{t^{n+1}}\right)^{1/2},\] and \begin{align*} [b^m, \mu^{\rho,\,\ast}_{\Omega,\,\lambda}](f)(x)&=\left(\iint_{\mathbb R^{n+1}_+} \left(\frac{t}{t+|x-y|}\right)^{\lambda n}\right.\\ &\quad\quad\left.\times\left|\frac1{t^\rho}\int_{|y-z|<t} \frac{\Omega(y-z)}{|y-z|^{n-\rho}}[b(x)-b(z)]^mf(z)\right|^2\frac{dydt}{t^{n+1}}\right)^{1/2}. \end{align*} \textit{M. Sakamoto} and \textit{K. Yabuta} [Stud. Math. 135, No. 2, 103--142 (1999; Zbl 0930.42009)] obtained the boundedness of \(\mu^\rho_{\Omega,\,S}\) and \(g^\ast_\lambda\)-function \(\mu^{\rho,\,\ast}_{\Omega,\,\lambda}\) on \(L^p(\mathbb R^n)\) with \(p\in(1, \infty)\) under the assumption \(\alpha\in(0, 1]\). \textit{H. Wang} and \textit{Y. Wu} [Trans. A. Razmadze Math. Inst. 171, No. 2, 238--251 (2017; Zbl 1376.42026)] further showed that if \(\Omega\in L^2(S^{n-1})\), then the parametrized Littlewood-Paley oprators and their high-order commutators, with BMO functions and Lipschitz functions respectively, are bounded on Herz spaces with variable exponent. In the paper under review, the authors show that for \(\beta\in(0, 1]\), \(\rho\in(n/2, \infty)\), \(\delta_2\in(0, 1)\), \(\xi\in (0, \min\{1/2, \beta, \rho-n/2\})\), \(0<p_1\le p_2<\infty\), \(n\delta_2\le \alpha< n\delta_2+\xi\), if \(\Omega\) satisfies the \(L^{2,\beta}\)-Dini condition, then \(\mu^\rho_{\Omega,\,S}\), \(\mu^{\rho,\,\ast}_{\Omega,\,\lambda}\), \([b^m, \mu^\rho_{\Omega,\,S}]\) and \([b^m, \mu^{\rho,\,\ast}_{\Omega,\,\lambda}]\) are bounded from the homogeneous Herz-type Hardy space with variable exponent \(H\dot K^{\alpha, p_1}_{q(\cdot)}\) to the homogeneous Herz space with variable exponent \(\dot K^{\alpha, p_2}_{q(\cdot)}\).
