This paper introduces a new class of oriented four-dimensional complexes which have a fundamental class. These complexes, which the authors call SFC\(_{4}\)-complexes, acquire their fundamental class by virtue of an attaching map for a top 4-cell which lies in the kernel of the map \(\pi_{3}(K) \ \rightarrow H_{3}(K)\) where \(K\) is a three complex. The main results classify such spaces up to homotopy type with particular attention to the case where the resulting space satisfies Poincaré duality.
