The paper under review is devoted to the following problem: given the potential and four complex numbers, find such nonseparated (coupled) boundary conditions that the spectrum of the Sturm-Liouville boundary value problem generated by these boundary conditions contains those four numbers. The authors study the number of solutions to this problem and some related stability questions in several particular cases.
