Finite presentability of universal central extensions of \(\mathfrak{sl}_n(R)\) (Q2214115)

The main result of the paper is the following theorem. Let \(k\) be a commutative associative ring, let \(n\geq 3\) and let \(R\) be a finitely generated unital associative \(k\)-algebra. Then \(R\) being finitely presented as a \(k\)-algebra is equivalent to \(\widehat{sl}_n(R)\) being finitely presented as a Lie algebra over \(k\).
