Let \(A\) be a finitely presented associateive \(k\)-algebra and let \(M_n(A)\) be the algebra of \(n\times n\) matrices over \(A\). In [\textit{I. Shestakov} and \textit{E. Zelmanov}, Int. J. Algebra Comput. 28, No. 8, 1705--1716 (2018; Zbl 1472.17093)] it was proved that for \(n\ge 3\) the Jordan algebra \(M_n(A)^{(+)}\) with the Jordan product \(x\circ y=\frac{1}{2}(xy+yx)\) is finitely presented. In the paper under review this fact is proved in the case \(n=2\). Using this result it is proved that the universal central extension of \(\mathfrak{sl}_2(k<x,y>)\) is not finitely presented as a Lie algebra.
