Let \(d\geq 1\) be an integer. In the article under review, the author discusses \((d+2)\)-angulated categories and Auslander-Reiten \((d+2)\)-angles, which for the case \(d=1\), generalizes the concept of triangulated categories and Auslander-Reiten triangles, respectively. The author proves two main results. The first claims that if \(\mathcal{C}\) is a locally finite \((d+2)\)-angulated category, then the Grothendieck group of \(\mathcal{C}\) is generated by Auslander-Reiten \((d+2)\)-angles. In the second result, the author proves that the reciprocal of the first main result is also valid for when \(d\) is odd. This result improves the corresponding one for locally finite triangulated categories and Auslander-Reiten triangles obtained by \textit{J. Xiao} and \textit{B. Zhu} [J. Algebra 257, No. 1, 37--50 (2002; Zbl 1021.18004)]. Finally, the author raises the question of whether the reciprocal of the first main result is also true for when \(d\) is even. In order to understand the proofs of the article, the author reviews the definitions of \((d+2)\)-angulated categories and Auslander-Reiten \((d+2)\)-angles, and provides an state-of-the-art on these topics, which is extremely useful to the reader.
