In this paper, the authors study branched continued fractions (known also as bifurcating continued fractions) whose elements are complex numbers. Branched continued fractions is a multidimensional generalization of classic continued continued fractions. The authors find the truncation error bounds for the branched continued fractions, providing that their elements belong to some rectangular sets of a complex plane. They have established two simple and constructive criteria for deriving error bounds, depending on the choice of positive integers in two certain sequences of real numbers. Further, they discuss the applications for several classes of branched continued fraction expansions, e.g., the multidimensional \(S\)-, \(A\)-, \(J\)-fractions with independent variables. Such branched continued fractions are used for the approximation of analytic functions of several complex variables, which are represented by multiple power series.
