\textit{K. Mine} and \textit{A. Yamashita} [Can. J. Math. 67, No. 5, 1091--1108 (2015; Zbl 1327.54018)] proved that every compact metrizable space is homeomorphic to the Higson corona of some locally compact metric space endowed with the \(C_0\) coarse structure. (For the definitions of coarse structures and the Higson coronas, see [\textit{J. Roe}, Lectures on coarse geometry. Providence, RI: American Mathematical Society (AMS) (2003; Zbl 1042.53027)].) In this paper, motivated by the problem ``Which compact Hausdorff spaces are homeomorphic to the Higson compactifications or the Higson coronas of (finitary) coarse spaces?'', the authors prove the following theorems: Each first-countable compact Hausdorff space with a dense set of isolated points is homeomorphic to the Higson compactification of some finitary coarse space. Each perfectly normal compact Hausdorff space is homeomorphic to the Higson corona of some finitary coarse space. Under the continuum hypothesis, each (zero-dimensional) compact Hausdorff space of weight \(\leq \omega_1\) is homeomorphic to the Higson (resp. binary) corona of some cellular finitary coarse space. To prove the theorems, the notions of permutation coarse spaces and \(M\)-soft compactifications for a proper metric space \(M\) are introduced. The authors also give examples of compact Hausdorff spaces with a countable dense set of isolated points, which are not homeomorphic to the Higson compactifications of finitary coarse spaces.
