Let \(S\) be a closed and oriented surface of genus \(g\geq 2\). This article provides a pleasant exposition of the complex geometry of the space \(\mathcal{P}(S)\) of marked complex projective structures on \(S\). The space \(\mathcal{P}(S)\) forms an affine bundle over the Teichmüller space \(\mathcal{T}(S)\), where the fiber over any point \(X \in \mathcal{T}(S)\) can be identified with the vector space of holomorphic quadratic differentials on \(X\) via the Schwarzian parametrization. The article reviews the construction of the complex structure on \(\mathcal{T}(S)\) via the Bers embedding, and thus on \(\mathcal{P}(S)\); the latter is shown to be biholomorphic to the product space \(\mathcal{T}(S) \times \mathbb{C}^{3g-3}\), and also to the cotangent bundle \(T^\ast\mathcal{T}(S)\). As a corollary, the author deduces results about the degeneracy of the Kobayashi, Caratheodory and Bergman metrics on \(\mathcal{P}(S)\). Along the way, he introduces and discusses properties of these metrics and other Kähler metrics on \(\mathcal{T}(S)\), and various related notions like Steinness and pseudoconvexity. This makes the paper an interesting resource for anyone interested in these notions in the context of Teichnüller theory.
