The paper under review deals with the boundary value problem which consists of the third-order differential equation \[ y''' (x)=\lambda y(x),\qquad x\in[0,1], \] and boundary conditions \[ a_i y^{(i-1)} (0)+y(c)+b_i y^{(i-1)} (1)=0,\qquad i=1,2,3, \] where \(\lambda\) is the eigenvalue parameter, \(c\in(0,1)\) is a fixed number and \(a_i, b_i\) are complex numbers (\(i=1,2,3\)) such that \(|a_1|+|a_2|+|a_3|\neq0\) and \(|b_1|+|b_2|+|b_3|\neq0\). The authors determine the coefficients \(a_i, b_i\) (\(i=1,2,3\)) such that the characteristic determinant of the corresponding eigenvalue problem is identically constant.
