Let \(F\) be a local field of characteristic zero and \(E\) an etale cubic algebra over \(F\) and let \(\psi\) be a non-trivial additive character of \(F\). Given an irreducible admissible generic representation \(\Pi\) of \(\mathrm{GL}_2(E)\), let \(\phi_\Pi: W_F^\prime\to {}^L(\mathrm{R}_{E/F}\mathrm{GL}_2)\) be the \(L\)-parameter associated to \(\Pi\) via the local Langlands correspondence, where \(W_F^\prime\) is the Weil-Deligne group of \(F\) and \({}^L(\mathrm{R}_{E/F}\mathrm{GL}_2)\) is the Langlands dual group of the Weil restriction \(\mathrm{R}_{E/F}\mathrm{GL}_2\). Let \(\mathrm{As }: {}^L(\mathrm{R}_{E/F}\mathrm{GL}_2) \to \mathrm{GL}(\mathbb{C}^2\otimes\mathbb{C}^2\otimes\mathbb{C}^2)\) be the Asai cube representation. Associated to the admissible representation \(\mathrm{As}\,\circ \phi_\Pi\) of \(W_F^\prime\), one can define local factors \(L(s, \mathrm{As }\, \Pi)\), \(\varepsilon(s, \mathrm{As }\, \Pi, \psi)\), and \(\gamma(s, \mathrm{As }\, \Pi, \psi)\). On the other hand, one can also define local factors \(L_{\mathrm{PSR}}(s, \mathrm{As }\, \Pi)\), \(\varepsilon_{\mathrm{PSR}}(s, \mathrm{As }\, \Pi, \psi)\), and \(\gamma_{\mathrm{PSR}}(s, \mathrm{As }\, \Pi, \psi)\) through the local zeta integrals of Piatetski-Shapiro-Rallis [\textit{I. I. Piatetski-Shapiro} and \textit{S. Rallis}, Compos. Math. 64, 31--115 (1987; Zbl 0637.10023)] and Ikeda [\textit{T. Ikeda}, J. Math. Kyoto Univ. 29, No. 2, 175--219 (1989; Zbl 0701.11017)]. The main result (Theorem 1.1) of the paper under review is the expected equality \[ \gamma_{\mathrm{PSR}}(s, \mathrm{As }\, \Pi, \psi)=\gamma(s, \mathrm{As }\, \Pi, \psi). \] Moreover, assume \(E=F_1\times \cdots \times F_r\) for some finite extensions \(F_i\) of degree \(d_i\) over \(F\). Then \(\Pi=\pi_1\times\cdots \times \pi_r\) for some irreducible admissible generic representations \(\pi_i\) of \(\mathrm{GL}_2(F_i)\). Let \(\omega_{\pi_i}\) be the central character of \(\pi_i\). Define \(l(\pi_i)\in \mathbb{R}\) by \[ l(\pi_i) = \begin{cases} \mathrm{wt}(\omega_{\pi_i})/2, & \text{if \(\pi_i\) is essentially square-integrable}, \\ \min\{ \mathrm{wt}(\chi_1), \mathrm{wt}(\chi_2) \} & \text{if \(\pi_i=\mathrm{Ind}_{B(F_i)}^{\mathrm{GL}_2(F_i)}(\chi_1\otimes\chi_2)\)}, \end{cases} \] where \(B\) is the standard Borel subgroup of \(\mathrm{GL}_2\), and for a character \(\chi:F_i^\times\to \mathbb{C}^\times\), \(\mathrm{wt}(\chi)\in \mathbb{R}\) is defined so that \(|\chi |=|\, |_{F_i}^{\mathrm{wt}(\chi)}\). Define \(L(\Pi)\in \mathbb{R}\) by \[ L(\Pi)=\sum_{i=1}^r d_i\cdot l(\pi_i). \] As a corollary to the main result, the author further proves that, under the condition \(\max\{ |L(\Pi)|, |L(\Pi^\vee)|\}<1/2\) where \(\Pi^\vee\) is the contragredient representation of \(\Pi\), we have \[ L_{\mathrm{PSR}}(s, \mathrm{As }\, \Pi)=L(s, \mathrm{As }\, \Pi),\\ \varepsilon_{\mathrm{PSR}}(s, \mathrm{As }\, \Pi, \psi)=\varepsilon(s, \mathrm{As }\, \Pi, \psi). \]
