The main goal of the authors are necessary and sufficient conditions for the validity of weighted Rellich inequalities in Lebesgue spaces \(L^p\), \(1 < p \leq \infty\), for functions in bounded domains vanishing at the boundary. General operator of the type \(Lu =\Delta u-c \frac{x}{|x|^2}\cdot \nabla u+\frac{b}{|x|^2}u\) are considered, as Schrödinger operator having inverse square potential. When best constants can be computed, the authors prove that they are not attained by adding remainder terms. Finally, when Rellich inequalities above fail, the authors prove modified inequalities which include logarithmic terms. The method is based on the spectral analysis of an useful auxiliary operator. Moreover, the authors point out show some explicit counterexamples which serve as a guide of the paper.
