The paper, generalizing the relations of the elementary viscoelastic media, proposes a family of constitutive relations for the viscoelastic media involving the finite deformations. The different members of the family are shown to be associated with the one-parameter family of objective Gordon-Showalter derivatives. A detailed description of the constitutive relation, along with references from the literature, is provided in a separate section. One-step and two-step deformation processes are described. The problem of the torsion of a viscoelastic cylinder with constant length, whose material is described by one of the relations from the above family, is solved analytically. Some interesting results are obtained. It is shown through this example problem that the family of constitutive relations can be employed to describe the viscoelastic behavior of materials considering the finite strains.
