The authors extend the results in their paper [Proc. Am. Math. Soc. 148, No. 12, 5171--5180 (2020; Zbl 1477.46028)] and they investigate the nuclearity of generalized Gelfand-Shilov local spaces of ultradifferentiable functions, both of Beurling and Roumieu type. In the article under review, they work in the context of ultradifferentiable fucntions defined in terms of weight matrices as in the article by \textit{A. Rainer} and \textit{G. Schindl} [Stud. Math. 224, No. 2, 97--131 (2014; Zbl 1318.26053)]. This allows them to have a unified treatment of functions defined using weight sequences, as in the work of Gelfand, Shilov and Komatsu, and via weight functions, as in the work of Beurling, Björck, Braun, Meise and Taylor. Characterizations of nuclearity for these function spaces are obtained. As an application, new kernel theorems are proved. Related work has been obtained simultaneously by \textit{C. Boiti} et al. [Banach J. Math. Anal. 15, No.~1, Paper No.~14, 38~p. (2021; Zbl 1472.46043)].
