The topic of this article is a relevant generalization of Shannon's entropy measure, the cumulative residual Tsallis entropy. New results involving it, such as new equivalent expressions, bounds, connections to the differential entropy and excess wealth transform and stochastic comparisons, are provided. A dynamic version of it is proposed, too, and monotonicity statements are derived, too. Two different empirical estimators of cumulative distribution functions are then employed for estimating the cumulative residual Tsallis entropy and an application in blind image quality assessment illustrates the theoretical achievements.
