Let \((M,g)\) be a compact Riemannian manifold with boundary. Under the assumption that the Ricci curvature of \(M\) is non-negative and the mean curvature of the boundary with respect to the inner normal is positive, the authors prove an inequality of the form \[ \int_{\partial M} f \ d\mu_g \geq C\int_{M} f\ d\mu_g \] valid for every positive smooth function \(f\) satisfying \(\Delta f \geq \lambda f\) for some \(\lambda\in\mathbb{R}\). The constant \(C\) depends solely on \(\lambda\), on the dimension of \(M\) and on the infimum \(H_0\) of the mean curvature, and is given explicitly as a ratio of values of certain Bessel functions of the first kind. This main inequality implies an isoperimetric inequality in terms of \(H_0\), and also lower bounds for the eigenvalues of geometric elliptic operators on manifolds with non-positive Ricci curvature and convex boundary: the Laplacian on differential forms with four types of boundary conditions, the Dirac operator (when \(M\) is spin), and the Yamabe operator.
