Let \(X,Y\) be first countable compact Hausdorff spaces. The structure of diameter preserving bijections between \(C(X)\), \(C(Y)\) spaces has been well investigated; see the long list of references in the paper. In this article the authors show that this class of operators is algebraically reflexive. Some of the steps involved in this long proof have subsequently been used by the authors in their recent article [\textit{A.~Jiménez-Vargas} and \textit{F.~Sady}, Positivity 25, No.~3, 867--881 (2021; Zbl 1476.46011)] (also reviewed by this reviewer) to investigate 2-local isometries.
