    Lord Rayleigh discovered the existence of a surface wave propagating along the boundary of a homogeneous, isotropic elastic half-space, and he derived an equation for the wave speed \(v\). The authors consider a perturbation by Eringen nonlocal parameters and derive a secular equation for \(v\). For a special material, copper, the variation of the (normalized) wave speed against various (non-Lamé) parameters is illustrated with results of numerical computations. In contrast to classical isotropy, nonlocal parameters affect frequency dependence of \(v\) (dispersion).
