The authors study the difference of weighted composition operators on spaces of holomorphic functions on the open unit disk \(\mathbb D\) or on the complex plane \(\mathbb C\) with values in a complex Banach space \(X\). The weighted composition operator \(uC_\varphi\) with symbol \(\varphi\) and weight \(u\) is defined by \(uC_\varphi f:= u(f\circ \varphi)\) and the composition operator \(C_\varphi\) is defined by \(C_\varphi f:= f\circ \varphi\). The main results concern the difference of composition operators on vector-valued Bergman spaces and vector-valued Fock spaces. For \(\alpha > -1\), the vector-valued Bergman space \(A^2_\alpha(X)\) consists of functions \(f\in H(\mathbb D,X)\) such that \[\|f\|_{A^2_\alpha(X)} = \Big(\int_{\mathbb D} \|f(z)\|^2_X \,dA_\alpha (z)\Big)^{\frac{1}{2} }< \infty,\] where \(dA_\alpha(z) = (\alpha +1) (1 + |z|^2)^\alpha \,dA(z)\) and \(dA\) is the normalized Lebesgue measure on \(\mathbb C\). The vector-valued Fock space \(\mathcal F^2(X)\) consists of the functions \(f\in H(\mathbb C,X)\) such that \[\|f\|_{\mathcal F^2(X)} = \Big(\frac{1}{\pi} \int_{\mathbb C} \|f(z)\|^2_X e^{-|z|^2}\,dA(z)\Big)^{\frac{1}{2}} < \infty.\] The corresponding scalar-valued spaces is denoted by \(A^2_\alpha\) and \(\mathcal F^2\), respectively. The weak version \(wA^2_\alpha(X)\) of the vector-valued Bergman space is the space of functions \(f\in H(\mathbb D,X)\) such that \[\|f\|_{wA^2_\alpha(X)} = \sup_{x^*\in B_{X^*}} \|x^*\circ f\|_{A^2_\alpha}<\infty,\] where \(B_{X^*}\) is the closed unit ball of the dual space \(X^*\) of \(X\). Analogously, the weak space \(w\mathcal F^2(X)\) consists of all \(X\)-valued entire functions satisfying \[\|f\|_{w\mathcal F^2(X)} = \sup_{x^*\in B_{X^*}} \|x^*\circ f\|_{\mathcal F^2}< \infty.\] As the principal result in the vector-valued Bergman space case, the authors establish several necessary and sufficient conditions for the boundedness of \[uC_\varphi- vC_\psi:wA^2_\alpha(X) \to A^2_\alpha(X).\] Moreover, the boundedness of the difference of the composition operators \[C_\varphi- C_\psi:w\mathcal F^2(X) \to \mathcal F^2(X)\] is completely characterized. In sharp contrast with the setting of Bergman spaces, the difference of two composition operators is bounded from \(w\mathcal F^2(X)\) to \(\mathcal F^2(X)\) only if the both individual composition operators are bounded from \(w\mathcal F^2(X)\) to \(\mathcal F^2(X)\).
