A magnetic curve in a Riemannian manifold is the trajectory of a free charged particle in the presence of a magnetic field. Hence, it can be interpreted as a generalization of the concept of a geodesic. In the study of magnetic curves, the presence of various special geometrical structures plays an important role, for example Sasakian structures, cosymplectic structures, Kähler structures, contact structures. In previous works, magnetic curves were studied in several special types of manifolds. In the present paper, magnetic curves are studied in the generalized Heisenberg groups with the quasi-Sasakian structure. It is proved that a magnetic curve is a slant curve and a non-geodesic magnetic curve is a Frenet helix of maximum order 5. The explicit parametrizations of these magnetic curves are derived. Some open problems and a conjecture are formulated.
