A \(G\)-invariant Riemannian metric \(g\) on a homogeneous space \(G/H\) is called geodesic orbit metric if any geodesic is an orbit of a one-parameter subgroup of \(G\). \((G/H,g)\) is then called geodesic orbit space (g.o. space). G.o. spaces are a generalization of symmetric spaces and there are various important subclasses, for example naturally reductive spaces or weakly symmetric spaces. There are many papers about Riemannian g.o. spaces and the concept can be also formulated for affine g.o. spaces or Finsler g.o. spaces, which attained attention recently. In the present paper, a special class of of irreducible homogeneous spaces \(G/H\) of semisimple type which are not weakly symmetric is studied and Riemannian g.o. metrics are determined. It is proved that for two strongly isotropy irreducible spaces \(G_i/K\) with \(K\) simple, all g.o. metrics on \((G_1\times G_2)/\Delta K\) are naturally reductive.
