In the paper, the authors consider operators of the form \(D = D_0 + D_1\Phi:\mathcal{H}^s(\mathbb R^d)\rightarrow \mathcal{H}^{s-m}(\mathbb R^d)\), where \(D_0\), \(D_1\) are pseudodifferential operators of Shubin type and order \(m\) on \(\mathbb R^d\), and \(\Phi\) is a metaplectic operator associated with a symplectic matrix. Sufficient conditions for Fredholm property of such operators in the scale of Sobolev-type spaces \(\mathcal{H}^s(\mathbb R^d)\) are given. The results are applied to study the problem concerning the Fredholm property of the Schrödinger equation for a system of two particles in which the initial and final conditions are given in the form of linear combinations of particle states with pseudodifferential coefficients. Two appendices are added: a) a result of A. Antonevich, M. Belousov and A. Lebedev concerning the classification of ergodic measures invariant with respect to a linear transformation on the sphere in \(\mathbb R^d\); b) a result of A. Antonevich and A. Lebedev on invertibility of finite-difference two-term operators.
