Generalized quaternionic manifolds (Q2249388)

The author introduces a notion of generalized quaternionic manifold in the spirit of generalized complex geometry of Gualtieri and Hitchin. In the paper, linear generalized quaternionic structures on vector spaces are mainly studied. The point of view is that of CR quaternionic and co-CR quaternionic geometry and the corresponding twistor theory [\textit{S. Marchiafava} et al., Monatsh. Math. 167, No. 3--4, 531--545 (2012; Zbl 1254.53080); Isr. J. Math. 195, Part A, 347--371 (2013; Zbl 1281.53051)]. The main result characterizes every generalized quaternionic linear structure as a product of a generalized quaternionic vector space and a finite family of complex symplectic vector spaces. The author also gives some examples of nonclassical examples of generalized quaternionic manifolds.
