The classical Hardy's uncertainty principle claims that an integrable function \(f\) on \(\mathbb R\) and its Fourier transform \(\widehat{f}\) cannot both have arbitrary Gaussian decay. The authors generalize this principle to the case of a semi-direct product \(G=\mathbb R^n\rtimes K\), where \(K\) is a compact subgroup of automorphisms of \(\mathbb R^n\), and where the Fourier transform is replaced by the operator-valued Fourier transform on the unitary dual \(\widehat{G}\) of \(G\).
