Local proximity spaces were introduced by \textit{S. Leader} in [Math. Ann. 169, 275--281 (1967; Zbl 0144.21702)]; they consist of a set, \(X\), a proximity, \(\delta\), on~\(X\), and a family of subsets, \(\mathcal{B}\), that are deemed to be `bounded'. Their interrelation is such that it mimics the behaviour of the family of compact sets in a locally compact space, and, indeed, such a space can be embedded as a dense subspace of a locally compact space in such a way that the `bounded' sets get a compact closure and the given proximity is related to the proximity determined by the one-point compactification. The authors show how every local proximity space can be generated from a uniform space together with a bornology. They then go on to investigate various natural topologies on hyperspaces associated to the structures, with special emphasis on Attouch-Wets topologies for \(\omega_\mu\)-metric spaces.
