Let \({\mathcal F}\) denote the set of convex bodies \(K\) in \({\mathbb R}^n\) with a positive, continuous curvature function \(f(K,\cdot)\). For \(K,L\in{\mathcal F}^n\), the \(i\)th mixed surface area can be defined by \[ \Omega_i(K,L)=\int_{S^{n-1}} f(K,u)^{\frac{n-i}{n+1}} f(L,u)^{\frac{i} {n+1}}\,dS(u), \] where the integration is with respect to the spherical Lebesgue measure on the unit sphere \(S^{n-1}\). Let \(\#\) denote the Blaschke addition, and write \(\Omega_i(K)= \Omega_i(K,B)\), where \(B\) denotes the unit ball. For \(i,j\in{\mathbb R}\) with \(i\leq -1\leq j\leq n\) and \(i\not= j\), the authors prove that \[ \left(\frac{\Omega_i(K\# L)}{\Omega_j(K\# L)}\right)^{\frac{n+1}{j-i}} \leq \left(\frac{\Omega_i (K)} {\Omega_j(K)}\right)^{\frac{n+1}{j-i}} +\left(\frac{\Omega_i( L)} {\Omega_j(L)}\right)^{\frac{n+1}{j-i}} , \] with equality if and only if \(K\) and \(L\) are homothetic. For \(j=n\), this reduces to an inequality of \textit{E. Lutwak} [J. Math. Anal. Appl. 125, 351--360 (1987; Zbl 0632.52005)]. With the aid of curvature images, some inequalities for dual quermassintegrals are derived.
