For Hilbert space operators \(A,B\in B(H)\) put \(\delta_{A,B},\Delta_{A,B}\:B(H)\to B(H)\), \(\delta_{A,B}(X)=AX-XB\) and \(\Delta_{A,B}(X)=AXB-X\). The following generalizations of the classical Fuglede-Putnam property are studied. \(A\) is said to have property \(PF(\delta)\) (\(A\in(PF(\delta)\)) if whenever \(V\) is an isometry satisfying \(XA^*=VX\), then \(XA=V^*X\). Similarly, \(A\in(PF(\Delta)\) is defined. The main result of the paper under review is as follows. If (i) \(A\) is hereditary normaloid, (ii) the contractive parts of \(A\) have a \(C_{\cdot0}\) c.n.u. part, (iii) \(A\) satisfies the Dunford condition (C), then \(A\in PF(\delta)\cap PF(\Delta)\). Moreover, the authors prove several consequences of the above theorem for particular classes of operators (e.g., paranormal, power-bounded).
